Optimum solutions for existing buildings

Sustainable preservation through the replacement of Schüco window and façade components

Age-related wear and tear, improper operation or modernisation requirements – replacing window and façade components makes it possible to preserve the fabric of the building without extensive planning work. Thanks to the backwards compatibility of Schüco systems, older components such as glass, gaskets and handles can also be replaced without any problems. Replacement optimises thermal insulation and increases comfort, while also contributing to the longevity and value retention of the Schüco units. Even a small budget can enable energy costs and CO2 emissions to be reduced, while fulfilling legal sustainability requirements.

Replacement of Schüco Royal S vents with Schüco AWS

With Schüco vent replacement, existing window systems from the Schüco Royal S series from the 1990s can be easily and effectively upgraded. Replacing the old window vents with new vents from the current Schüco AWS series enables energy-efficient renovation in line with today's standards – without any intervention in the existing outer frame or attachment to building structure.

The replacement is quick and causes virtually no disruption to building operations: the new vents are equipped with modern fittings and gaskets for a perfect fit. This not only saves time, but also costs – and significantly reduces the duration of the entire construction project. Depending on the condition of the building and the objectives, Schüco vent replacement may be the ideal solution for anyone looking to upgrade their existing windows in terms of technology and energy efficiency without having to invest in a costly complete renovation.

Window renovation without the laborious dismantling of the outer frame

Integrating new components into existing window constructions often involves risks – particularly with regard to connection quality and system compatibility. Precision is required and this often results in complex construction measures.

The Schüco AWS 75.SI+ Reno aluminium renovation outer frame offers a sophisticated and practical solution that enables the quick and clean refurbishment of timber, PVC-U and aluminium windows. This minimally invasive method involves building over the existing outer frame. After removing the old window vent, the new window frame is mounted onto the existing frame from the inside of the building using special outer frame profiles – without any major alterations to the building fabric.

The renovation outer frame can be used universally for old windows with a functional wall attachment. In addition, replacing the gasket strips and renewing the joint seals ensures a secure, airtight window connection – and thus a permanently reliable solution.

A particularly attractive aspect of this renovation measure is that it is eligible for subsidies as an individual measure under the Federal Funding for Efficient Buildings (BEG) programme.

Energy-efficient, economical, while the building is in use – façade renovation with Schüco AOC 50/60 Reno

Schüco AOC 50/60 Reno is an innovative renovation solution for existing mullion-transom façades and glass roofs that enables both functional and energy-efficient improvements – all during ongoing building operation. The existing support structures, including the attachments to the existing building structure, are retained and covered with adapter profiles and the proven Schüco AOC add-on construction, including a new sealing and insulation layer. This not only simplifies implementation, but also significantly reduces construction time.

New glazing and the optimised sealing level noticeably increase energy efficiency, while ventilation concepts and the integration of sun shading systems or photovoltaic modules can be easily implemented.

Schüco AOC 50/60 Reno enables renovation that is eligible for subsidies – without long downtimes and with clear added value for building performance, comfort and sustainability.

Schüco AOC 50/60 Reno is already available as a commercial solution. Please feel free to speak to your Schüco contact person or simply fill out our contact form.

Future-proof use and retrofitting

The Schüco Perfect all-in-one system integrates windows and additional components such as a safety barrier, sun shading, flyscreens, window sills and thresholds. All options can be combined flexibly and modularly – which is advantageous for building processes in residential and commercial construction.

Thanks to optimised planning and interface reliability through identical connection details and a patented drainage board piece, planning work is significantly reduced. This simplifies both fabrication and installation and leads to effective and cost-saving renovation solutions. The biggest challenge for fabricators is thereby solved directly: the perfectly coordinated system makes installation and fabrication significantly faster, less complicated and less prone to errors.

Add-ons that can be revised, retrofitted and replaced ensure future-proof use, for example by replacing external blinds with roller shutters.

Schüco Perfect is simply mounted in front of the Schüco AWS 75.SI+ aluminium window or the Schüco ASE 60/80.HI aluminium sliding system and merges with it to form a visual and functional unit.

Schüco folding sliding system for the serial and energy-efficient renovation of loggias

The renovation of loggias and balconies often involves considerable effort and high costs. Continuous balcony panels without thermal breaks are particularly problematic – they lead to significant heat loss and impair the energy efficiency of the building.

The Schüco AS FD 75/90.HI folding sliding system offers fabricators a cost-effective and practical solution that can be flexibly installed on both existing balcony spandrels and Schüco system spandrels. The system therefore offers maximum adaptability in existing buildings and facilitates implementation even in complex refurbishment projects.

Thanks to a serial approach, renovation times are significantly reduced – saving costs and reducing disruption for residents. At the same time, the thermal envelope of the building is shifted to the outside, preventing heat loss through continuous balcony panels. The measure thus meets the requirements for subsidy programmes, such as the KfW 55 standard.

Despite the enclosure, the full balcony function is retained: the fully opening vents allow unrestricted use and ensure a high level of living comfort. A special cleaning fitting also facilitates maintenance and care of the units – a clear benefit for long-term upkeep.

A particular bonus is that photovoltaic modules can be easily integrated into the spandrel – a step towards sustainable energy generation directly on the building.
