In 2021, we examined the question of how we, as a company, contribute to achieving the global Sustainable Development Goals (see Sustainability Report 2019/20). Through an analysis, we identified five SDGs, on which our activities have a significant impact. The following overview shows the progress we have made in this regard during the reporting period.
SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
Our Approach:
Through our products and services, we aim to make cities and human settlements inclusive, resilient, and sustainable.
Relevant SDG Targets:
11.3: By 2030, make urbanization more inclusive and sustainable and strengthen the capacity for participatory and sustainable urban planning
11.6: By 2030, reduce per capita environmental impacts of cities, particularly in the areas of air and waste
Current activities:
Launch of the Schüco Value Up consulting, product, and service program, which focuses on measures to improve the energy performance of existing buildings
SDG 12: Sustainable Consumption and Production
Our Approach:
We view buildings as reservoirs of raw materials for the future. That is why we are actively driving the transition from linear to circular construction.

12.2: By 2030, ensure the sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources
12.5: By 2030, substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, recycling, and reuse
Current Activities:
Expansion of the Cradle to Cradle portfolio to 95 certified aluminum systems
Introduction of plastic profiles with resource-optimized formulations
Development of the fully circular window concept “AW Circular”
Cooperation between RE:CORE and Remondis with the goal of reprocessing metal-based scrap windows and profile offcuts from production
Cooperation with glass manufacturer Saint-Gobain to promote the reuse of glass in the construction industry
SDG 13: Climate Change Mitigation Measures
Our Approach:
We are taking effective measures to reduce our CO₂ emissions and become a climate-neutral company by 2040.

13.1: Enhance resilience to climate-related hazards
13.3: Improve knowledge and capacity in the areas of climate change mitigation, adaptation, and the reduction of climate impacts
Current activities:
Reducing the GWP potential of aluminum profiles by continuing a procurement strategy focused on the gradual integration of CO₂-reduced materials
Introduction of plastic profiles based on bio-based raw materials (“BIO-ATTRIBUTED PVC”)
Introduction of the Environmental Calculator, a software tool that helps planners simulate the carbon footprint of buildings
Expansion of the modular training program on sustainability topics to include low-threshold offerings
SDG 8: Human-worthy work and economic growth
Our Approach:
As an employer, we aim to provide secure jobs and ensure the long-term health of our employees through workplace safety measures and risk mitigation.

8.2: Achieve higher economic productivity through diversification, technological upgrading, and innovation
8.5: By 2030, achieve full and productive employment and decent work for all, and equal pay for work of equal value
8.8: Protect labor rights and promote safe working environments for all workers
Current activities:
Expansion of mental health prevention services through the newly introduced life situation coaching
“Well-being and Empowerment” training project to promote resilience and inner strength at the Schüco Group’s Italian site
Establishment of the employee network “Health Network Schüco” for the exchange of health tips
