Our Contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

In 2021, we examined the question of how we, as a company, contribute to achieving the global Sustainable Development Goals (see Sustainability Report 2019/20). Through an analysis, we identified five SDGs, on which our activities have a significant impact. The following overview shows the progress we have made in this regard during the reporting period.

SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
sdg11

Our Approach:

Through our products and services, we aim to make cities and human settlements inclusive, resilient, and sustainable.

Relevant SDG Targets:

11.3: By 2030, make urbanization more inclusive and sustainable and strengthen the capacity for participatory and sustainable urban planning

11.6: By 2030, reduce per capita environmental impacts of cities, particularly in the areas of air and waste

Current activities:

Launch of the Schüco Value Up consulting, product, and service program, which focuses on measures to improve the energy performance of existing buildings

SDG 12: Sustainable Consumption and Production
sdg12

Our Approach:

We view buildings as reservoirs of raw materials for the future. That is why we are actively driving the transition from linear to circular construction.

Relevant SDG Targets:

12.2: By 2030, ensure the sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources

12.5: By 2030, substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, recycling, and reuse

Current Activities:

SDG 13: Climate Change Mitigation Measures
sdg13

Our Approach:

We are taking effective measures to reduce our CO₂ emissions and become a climate-neutral company by 2040.

Relevant SDG Targets:

13.1: Enhance resilience to climate-related hazards

13.3: Improve knowledge and capacity in the areas of climate change mitigation, adaptation, and the reduction of climate impacts

Current activities:

  • Reducing the GWP potential of aluminum profiles by continuing a procurement strategy focused on the gradual integration of CO₂-reduced materials

  • Introduction of plastic profiles based on bio-based raw materials (“BIO-ATTRIBUTED PVC”)

  • Introduction of the Environmental Calculator, a software tool that helps planners simulate the carbon footprint of buildings

  • Expansion of the modular training program on sustainability topics to include low-threshold offerings

SDG 8: Human-worthy work and economic growth
sdg8

Our Approach:

As an employer, we aim to provide secure jobs and ensure the long-term health of our employees through workplace safety measures and risk mitigation.

Relevant SDG Targets:

8.2: Achieve higher economic productivity through diversification, technological upgrading, and innovation

8.5: By 2030, achieve full and productive employment and decent work for all, and equal pay for work of equal value

8.8: Protect labor rights and promote safe working environments for all workers

Current activities:

SDG 10: Less inequality
sdg10

Our Approach:

We are committed to ensuring equal opportunities for our employees, regardless of age, gender, disability, ethnicity, background, religion, or other status.
