New suppliers are selected based on clearly defined quality, environmental and social criteria. We place great importance on suppliers operating a quality management system in accordance with ISO 9001, an environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001, an energy management system in accordance with ISO 5001, and an occupational health and safety management system in accordance with ISO 45001 or equivalent systems. In addition, we require our suppliers to adhere to minimum ethical, social and environmental standards, which are set out in the Code of Conduct for Business Partners. 

Together with our suppliers, we are also working to advance sustainability issues throughout the entire value chain. This includes the efficient use of resources, the avoidance of hazardous substances, and joint efforts to reduce CO₂-emissions and improve the recyclability of our systems. One example of this was the establishment of RE:CORE metals GmbH, whose aim is to return scrap aluminum to the production cycle.

In complex day-to-day business, it is not always easy to establish what is right and what is wrong. In order to help employees worldwide to always act in an ethical way that is in accordance with the applicable laws, Schüco has set up a Compliance Office. Under the leadership of the Chief Compliance Officer (COO), it informs employees of the content and meaning of the code of conduct and delivers general and specialist training. Furthermore, the Compliance Committee, which is led by the CCO, meets regularly. This committee is tasked with advising the Executive Management Board about national and international compliance issues. To do this, it utilises information provided by the Compliance Office and other relevant areas of the company. The respective Regional Compliance Officer advises the international subsidiaries in China, the UK, France, India, Italy, Sweden, Denmark and Norway, and reports to the Compliance Office.   

The Regional Compliance Officers can be contacted directly by all employees at the respective international subsidiaries, and there is also a general e-mail address for internal and external compliance matters for all of the aforementioned international subsidiaries.  

Schüco has a transparent complaints procedure, which meets all of the requirements of the German Whistleblower Protection Act (HinSchG) and the Act on Corporate Due Diligence in Supply Chains (LKSG). It enables people inside and outside of the company to provide information about actual or potential breaches of compliance obligations which have occurred during transactions with Schüco employees, a subsidiary or suppliers. These include human rights violations, violations of social norms, breaches of employment terms, contraventions of environmental provisions, financial crime, financial statement fraud, money laundering, data protection violations, misappropriation of assets, or any other breaches of legal provisions or internal regulations.

It is important to us that Schüco employees who have reasonable suspicion of a breach of our code of conduct are encouraged to report it. Whistleblowers can rest assured that the information they provide will be handled with discretion and that they will not suffer any disadvantage as a result of the report.    

That is why we have commissioned an external counsel of trust (ombudsman), who is not under the instruction of Schüco. The counsel receives all information about breaches of the law or internal regulations confidentially and, if desired, anonymously, via a free portal. They are available to everyone who is or could be directly or indirectly affected by the business activities of the Schüco Group. Globally, that could be Schüco employees or external staff, such as customers, suppliers or service providers and their staff or other individuals affected. The information portal and the contact details of the counsel of trust are also published on the company website.
