The Luxe Lakes Eco-City in Chengdu’s burgeoning Tianfu New District is an urban development with an area of 5.5 km² and a large man-made lake. Given the paucity of opportunities for ecological development in the region, the new Eco-city is a great option for city dwellers wanting to swap the hustle and bustle of the metropolis for a quieter life close to nature. The Luxe Lakes Eco-City has it all: from residential areas and schools to business districts, through to hotels, parks and entertainment facilities.

Luxe Lake Villas, a community of 46 new-build luxury residences on an island in the 1.5 km² lake, was designed by Griffin Enright Architects. Each of the narrow row houses is pinched at its centre to create courtyards and internal pathways with fantastic views of the surrounding nature.

To provide the residents with a sense of being close to nature on a large scale, the building design incorporates thermally insulated Schüco Design sliding doors. Thanks to their narrow face widths and large-format vents, they facilitate attractive solutions for spaces flooded with light. The doors also boast a high degree of weathertightness as well as smooth, almost silent running characteristics. There is also a focus on functionality, convenience and design in the Schüco window, door and façade systems used.
