New standards for construction projects in Iceland

Iceland is considered one of the most challenging regions in Europe for construction projects. Strong winds, salty air, and long winters place high demands on materials and processes. For architects, planners, and metal fabricators, this means that only systems designed for quality and durability will stand the test of time. Schüco offers solutions that can withstand these conditions.

Despite extreme climatic and logistical challenges, the company Fagval in Iceland has modernised its manufacturing, digitised its processes and increased production quality thanks to its close collaboration with Schüco. A short film provides an insight into the project and the benefits it has brought to the company.

The Icelandic metal construction company Fagval recently switched to Schüco as its system supplier. From the outset, Fagval was supported by Schüco experts: from the analysis of processes and the selection of systems to the introduction of new software.

One milestone was the modernisation of the machinery. With the Schüco AF 510 5-axis machining centre and other modern equipment, production was significantly accelerated and quality improved. Whereas Fagval previously worked with manual processes, digital solutions such as SchüCal and the Fabrication Data Centre now ensure a seamless connection between planning, production and quality assurance.

The partnership between Schüco and Fagval has marked the beginning of a new era in metal construction in Iceland: more efficient, more digital and more future-oriented. The project demonstrates how innovative solutions and global expertise can set new standards – even under the most challenging conditions.
