Attractive work environment

The planning for Sjustjärnan began in 2017 with the aim of creating a workspace for 1500 employees. The aim of the architects was to design an environment so attractive that no one would want to work from home anymore. The open and inviting design prioritises security and sustainability. The building is aiming for BREEAM Outstanding certification as well as the WELL Building Standard, which focuses on human health and well-being in indoor environments.

Urban mobility concept for a better quality of life

Sjustjärnan is situated close to the main railway station in the centre of Malmö and encourages its employees to leave their cars at home and instead make use of public transport or bicycles. With a bicycle garage for up to 600 bikes, changing rooms and showers, it provides an excellent incentive for an active commute. In addition, the building offers outside working spaces on the roof including a yoga area, an outdoor fitness studio and even a bug hotel. It truly is a green oasis for all.

Architecture that encourages conversation

The building consists of two gently curved building structures, which are connected by a striking glass façade. The façade, which is an interplay of different backdrops and materials, creates a dynamic and sculptural effect. Chief architect Daniel Hohenthal of Kanozi Architects describes the building as a deliberate departure from closed façades, which have been trending in recent years. Instead, Sjustjärnan invites openness, transparency and variety.

Function meets aesthetic in the sustainable glass façade

The glass façade of the building impresses with its combination of glass and metal. These materials meet high sustainability requirements thanks to their durability, recyclability and low maintenance. They also set standards in terms of design and comfort. The building combines conventional curtain wall façades with project-specific double façade solutions that offer both energy efficiency and a pleasant microclimate between the insulating inner façade and the outer glass envelope.

More light and less energy: efficiency through transparency

Glass façades play a crucial role in reducing the energy consumption of modern buildings. Using high quality, energy-efficient solutions made of aluminium and glass makes optimum use of natural light, reducing the need for artificial lighting. At the same time, they offer excellent weather protection and outstanding insulation, with integrated sun shading that keeps the heat inside the building in winter and ensures a pleasantly cool temperature in summer. At a time when sustainability is of such vital importance, glass façades are proving to be a smart, forward-thinking solution for energy-efficient construction, while being both aesthetically pleasing and functional.
