A twin for the Helvetia tower
Helvetia Campus, Basel, Switzerland
Basel, Switzerland. As part of its redesign, the Helvetia Campus near the St. Alban district in Basel gained a new silhouette, with the entire headquarters of the insurance company being reorganised in accordance with the plans by Herzog & de Meuron. There is a new office tower in the centre, which is an identical copy of the existing office tower from the 1950s. Special profiles based on Schüco AWS 90.SI, AWS 70.HI and Schüco ADS 75 HD.HI were used for the façades of both tower blocks, as well as for the connecting auditorium.

In addition to the two high-rise buildings and the auditorium, the overall project for the new Helvetia Campus also includes the refurbishment and extension of another administrative building to the south. The Schüco ADS 75 HD.HI and Schüco AWS 70.HI systems were used for the façades of both tower buildings, as well as for the connecting auditorium.

The roof of the auditorium that was constructed between the two high-rise buildings is supported by 24 columns, each measuring twelve metres in height. The floor-to-ceiling glazing floods the entrance area with plenty of daylight and is equipped with numerous Schüco AWS 70.HI projected top-hung windows for natural ventilation.
