Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG specializes in mounting and fixing materials. In 2009, the company opened its 300th sales branch in Germany in the Munich-Freiham commercial district. The Munich location, which is approximately 10 kilometers from the city center, has the largest sales area of the company’s German branches, encompassing 900 m². Allmann Sattler Wappner Architects consciously integrated the building into the industrial environment. However, the compact structure with its heavily projecting canopy stands out from the neighboring buildings due to its impressive simplicity. In a space of 2,400 m², the building houses a transparent collection branch on the ground floor as well as office and seminar rooms. The rooms in the upper story are illuminated by an expansive courtyard, which is formed in the shape of the building. Thanks to the extensive glazing of the continuous aluminum Schüco transom and mullion façade, these zones are open to the splendidly designed courtyard. The adjoining rooms can be used to take a break and relax, enhancing the quality of the stay there. The building’s steel construction is primarily clad in opaque polycarbonate plates. The main entrance side is designed as a large glass front covered by the canopy. Towards the street, large glass elements permit showwindow- like views of the spacious sales space for fixing materials from the wood, construction, metal, electronics, sanitary, automobile, commercial vehicles, and agricultural sectors. On the west side, a large window highlights the double ramp stairway to the upper floor. The Schüco aluminum transom and mullion construction affords deep views of the interior and the courtyard.
