Allerdings entschieden die Archi- tekten sich dafür, die Platten mit der gläsernen Rück- seite nach außen anzubringen, sodass eine Tiefen- wirkung entsteht. Obendrein ist diese Rückseite, die normalerweise nicht als Schauseite verwendet wird, ein wenig uneben, was den ansonsten einheitlichen, geschlossenen Fassadenflächen ein sympathisch im- perfektes Element und etwas Lebendigkeit verleiht. Im Herzen des Campus führt eine tribünenartige Be- tontreppe zum Eingang des Sportzentrums, der im ersten Stock liegt, und bietet Aussicht auf den zentra- len Platz. Im Erdgeschoss dieses Gebäudes befinden sich 80 Parkplätze; 200 weitere Stellplätze säumen die Ränder des Campus. Das Sportzentrum wird von allen Schulen gemeinsam genutzt und beherbergt mehrere große Sporthallen ebenso wie kleinere Stu- dios. Wie in allen anderen Gebäuden, haben die Ar- chitekten auch hier viele überraschende Durch- und Aussichten geschaffen, die immer wieder Blickbezü- ge im Inneren herstellen. Außerdem hat jede Sport- halle ein kleines, an unerwarteter Stelle positioniertes Fenster, das einen Bezug zur Außenwelt schafft. Sichtbeton und Heraklitdecken bestimmen die Inte- rieurs der Bauten. Wiedererkennungswert schaffen die Glasfüllungen der Treppengeländer, die in jedem Gebäude eine andere Farbe haben. Im Reliefbeton plates have a groove pattern, which has been coated with enamel. However, the architects chose to attach the plates with the reverse of the glass facing out- wards in order to create the effect of depth. Moreover, the reverse is slightly uneven, which lends the other- wise uniform, cohesive façade surfaces a sympatheti- cally imperfect element and a touch of vibrancy. At the heart of the campus, grandstand-like concrete steps lead to the entrance of the sports centre, which is located on the first floor, and offer a view of the cen- tral square. The ground floor of the building accom- modates 80 parking spaces, while 200 further spaces line the edges of the campus. Use of the sports centre is shared by all of the schools. As in all of the other buildings, the architects have created a number of surprising views through the building and to the out- side here too, which create perspectives within the building time and time again. In addition, the small window in each sports hall, which is positioned in an unexpected place, creates a link to the outside world. Exposed concrete and ceilings comprised of Herak- lith boards are dominant features of the building in- teriors. The glass infill panels of the stair balustrades are a different colour in each building, making them easier to recognise. The interiors of the buildings are all similarly robust and simple, so that they withstand use by the pupils and students, who are aged between 12 and 22. Exposed concrete and Heraklith boards dominate the appearance.
