Project details

Picturesque and sophisticated, Domburg is the oldest seaside resort in Zeeland. Anyone walking towards the beach cannot help but notice Beachclub OAXACA, designed by Emma Architects. The roof is the first part of the beach pavilion to catch the eye, reminiscent in shape and colour of the light sandy dunes surrounding it. A bridge joins the entrance of the first storey to the dunes. This allows visitors to pass through the building in the direction of the sea.

The beach pavilion consists of a modular timber construction with large Schüco aluminium windows, which open up the building and permit expansive views of the beach and sea. Due to the extreme seaside conditions, the windows and curtain walling used have been pre-anodised and powder-coated in a tasteful anthracite grey colour (RAL 7016). The modular construction method enabled the Beachclub to be completed in a very short time period, between storm season, breeding season and bathing season.
