The Kranhaus building has already become one of the new sights in the city of Cologne. It is the work of Hamburg-based BRT-Architekten. Based upon the crane shape so familiar in the harbour area, the building also has a glazed façade. The sheer size and might of the Kranhaus recall a monolithic sculpture. The effect is further heightened by this giant overhanging structure being reflected in the Rhine. It is indubitably a landmark that is hugely enriching for the city and riverscape.
