Villa Arrondi

Danish-style sustainable forest lodge

Villa Arrondi is situated near the Danish coastal town of Ugelbølle. The large-scale panoramic windows and zero-level Classic Design sliding doors offer a fantastic view of the surrounding green landscape, bringing nature into the house all year round. The family's favourite place is the kitchen, which offers a 290 degree view around the building through large-scale glass areas.

Timeless elegance

The small house with no more than 88 square metres of space is a private retreat with a Danish touch. A minimalist, gentle language of form, intuitive lines, a focus on function and a love for detail: all of this makes the forest lodge timelessly elegant and emphasises the architecture, which relies not on short-term effects, but is designed to have a sustainable, lasting impact. The timber façade, which was burned in line with the Japanese Shou Sugi Ban method, is a prime example of this. This makes it resistant to fire, rot and insects, and ensures it will last for up to 80 years.

A focus on recycling and durability

The Terrazzo flooring throughout also has a long service life and simultaneously lends the house an attractive appearance. It was specially made for the forest lodge using surplus material from a local stone slab and tile manufacturer and is an inspiring example of how construction waste can be recycled as a valuable resource. The same applies to the Schüco systems installed in the building, which have a long service life thanks to their high quality. Furthermore, the window, door and sliding systems used demonstrate excellent recyclability as evidenced by their Cradle to Cradle certification.
