Aluminium Stewardship Initiative
Sustainable buildings are the future. It's therefore particularly important for Schüco that the material aluminum is produced and used in an environmentally friendly and socially conscious way. As a founding member of the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI), Schüco is taking active responsibility for a sustainable aluminum value chain.
Sustainable aluminum: More than recycling
The ASI develops industrial standards for the sustainable use of aluminum, from raw material extraction, production and use, through to recycling. Its aim is to establish a certified "supply chain and monitoring system" that is as complete as possible for manufacturers and users of aluminum. This is done with two certificates: the Performance Standard and the Chain of Custody (CoC) Standard, which builds on the former.
Schüco has been certified in accordance with the Performance Standard since 2019 and designs its systems during the development process so that they are as durable, easy to repair and fully recyclable at the end of their lifecycle as possible. Another key focus of the certification is how aluminum scrap is dealt with both in the warehouse and during the demolition of a building.
