The energy required for air conditioning is constantly increasing
Air conditioning in offices, showrooms and living spaces is increasingly dramatically in Europe. Traditional air conditioning is largely based on electrically-operated air conditioning compressors. The electrical energy demands for this are huge and the operating costs for air conditioning are constantly rising. In addition, there is the impact on the environment caused by power stations which generate the electricity. In particular, traditional air conditioning systems have to work at maximum capacity during the peak time, around lunchtime. For this reason, there are regulations governing the use of traditional air conditioning systems in many countries.
Schüco provides an environmentally friendly solution
Solar cooling from Schüco uses the sun as a primary source of energy. Up to 98 % of the energy required for the cooling unit with thermal compressor is covered by solar energy. Since the greatest demand for cooling occurs at the same time as the strongest irradiation, the cooling of buildings is an ideal application for solar energy. The energy for the compression and heating of the refrigerant is gained using solar collectors on the roof of the building or on its façade and stored in buffer storage cylinders. The use of tried-and-tested large volume components with a low level of wear and tear ensures that the system operates reliably.
Cooling units
Schüco provides absorption cooling units with 15 kW and 30 kW cooling power, which has been specially developed for use with solar energy. For example, these unit sizes are absolutely ideal for offices, conference rooms and training centres, to combine a comfortable room temperature with environmental protection.

High temperature collector
The SchücoSol U.5 DG is a specially developed high temperature collector. Solar cooling installations require high temperature levels from the collector field. The consistent reduction in the front-side heat loss due to double glazing and a quadruple anti-reflective coating produce solar yields which are up to 29 % higher at peak operation than with Schüco Premium collectors.
