Powder coating finish

During the electrostatic powdering process, an electrical field is created between the powder and the material to be coated. The powder, interlaced with compressed air and electrically charged when it emerges, is drawn to the surface of the material to be coated through the different powder/material polarity. In addition to the immediately accessible surface, the back sections and the reverse can also be reached and coated.
Due to its charge, the powder adheres well to the surface, and is melted and cross-linked during the subsequent thermal treatment. This takes place in a temperature range from 160 to max. 200°C, in which the object temperature and dwell time are largely dependent on the bonding agent base. After cooling, the coating is well-bonded, even and durable.

The appearance of a powder coating is determined by

  • The colour of the powder used
  • The glossiness of the powder used
  • The flow of the powder used (surface texture)
  • The content and form of the pigment effect
  • The burn-in conditions

The powders can be roughly divided into the following groups:

  • New: Schüco DURAClean for improved dirt resistance
  • White (TiO2 as the pigment)
  • Coloured (inorganic and organic pigments for different specifications),
  • Metallic pigments (contain special pigments to achieve properties such as pearl effect, haematite or metallic look)
  • Schüco colour ranges for powder coating
  • - MetallicLine – 14 selected metallic surfaces with individual character

    - MetallicLine Plus: 16 metal-look surfaces in smooth or fine texture – increased load capacity for worldwide use with a highly weather resistant quality
    - CosmoLine - Colour chart with eight colours, each available in two individual surface finishes
    - Metallic effects – 24 extremely popular surface finish effects, some available with dirt resistance
    - AnoLine - Anodised look over powder coating as technical solution
    - AnoLine FS: anodised look with a fine texture in highly weather resistant quality as a technical solution for mortar resistance and emissions
    - Fine texture - Classic colours in a new surface finish
    - Gloss chrome alternatives - Powder recreation of this popular effect

  • Schüco colour ranges with integrated function for powder coating

    - DURAClean - Popular powder coating surfaces with integrated dirt resistance
    - Anti-graffiti - Surface finishes suitable for removal of graffiti multiple times
    - Highly weather resistant - Powder quality for increased resistance to weathering and emissions
    - Highly weather resistant - Powder quality for maximum resistance to weathering and emissions

  • Decorative surface finishes with interesting designs

    - Natural - TImber look on aluminium using a double-layer powder coating process
    - Decoral - Timber and stone look on aluminium using a single-layer powder coating process

Colour ranges

Metallic, CosmoLine and AnoLine are three new ranges of quality-assured surface finish colours that are applied to aluminium using the powder coating process and have been tested on Schüco profiles.
