Schüco SFC 85: Structural Glazing Curtain walls
The new thermally broken curtain wall system Schüco SFC 85 (Stick Frame Construction) in the form of a structural glazing variation can provide particularly high value architectural solutions for curtain walling. As a result of the opening units being integrated flush with the Curtain wall, the fixed lights and opening units appear identical, both outside and inside.
The tested Schüco system solution with three types of glazing and a new generation of fittings provides great freedom in curtain wall design.
Features and benefits
- Thermally-broken structural glazing curtain wall
- Opening units fully integrated into load-bearing structure, also in conjunction with concealed motor drive
- 85 mm inside face width
- Three types of glazing:
- Stepped insulating glass (type A)
- Standard insulating glass (type B) with UV-resistant
edge seal
- With glazing beads (type C) - A new generation of fittings: vent weights up to max. 250 kg for opening units and 300 kg for fixed lights
Types of glazing
For the Schüco SFC 85 curtain wall system, there are three types of glazing available: stepped insulating glass, standard IGU with silicone edge seal and standard IGU with glazing beads, to suit different international building regulations and countryspecific features.
While the stepped insulating glass and standard IGUs with UV-resistant edge seal can produce perfect structural glazing solutions, the use of glazing beads offers an additional system option of creating a curtain wall with a framed appearance.
A new generation of fittings
The coordinated new generation of fittings is particularly impressive. There are seven friction stays and two different types of parallel opening fitting available for vent weights up to a maximum 250 kg. The exclusive ratchet stay (for tophung windows), available in two sizes, secures the open window smoothly against positive and negative wind loads.
