Schüco International UK Environmental Policy Document: draft 1
The Management of Schüco recognises the importance of environmental protection and the responsibility of the company to operate its business in compliance with all legal requirements relating to the safe design, warehousing and distribution of all its systems and products.
The latter comprise a wide range of metal systems for the construction of façades, windows and doors, large louvre shading systems and a variety of solar photovoltaic and thermal transfer products.
It is Schüco’s declared policy to co-operate and maintain good relations with all regulatory bodies and continually to enhance overall environmental performance by constantly monitoring all aspects of the company’s operational activities, improving and where necessary making changes in order to ensure that the company continues to conform to all relevant standards.
To achieve this, we are bound by eight specific commitments that we will:
1. Schedule and carry out regular environmental management reviews and auditing programmes designed to measure progress against both our own target benchmarks and industry best practice.
2. Provide appropriate training, instruction and supervision to all our employees so that they are able to perform their duties in a way that makes them understand the impact of their activities on the environment and helps them to advance our environmental policy and objectives.
3. Make every effort not to create, emit or discharge any type of pollutant or waste and where practicable will strive to promote the use of recyclable and renewable materials commensurate with the need to meet guarantees on the life-spans of our products and systems.
4. Undertake to make best use of energy and materials through the implementation of practices designed to minimise waste and wastage at every stage of our day-to-day operations.
5. Ensure that all appropriate Health & Safety checks are in place to minimise the risk of accidents both to employees and the general public.
6. Take into consideration the environmental performance of our key suppliers when making purchasing decisions with a view to ensuring that such decisions reinforce our agreed environmental policy and objectives.
7. Advance wherever possible our Clean Energy2 System Technology – 'Saving Energy and Generating Energy' – a combination of systems and products designed to help customers achieve high energy efficiency and improved energy balances, leading to sustainable long-term reductions in CO2 emissions and reduced dependence upon volatile energy markets.
8. Ensure that this Policy is communicated to all employees, suppliers and sub-contractors and is also made available to members of the general public.
