Tour Pro - A dream job
A Day in a Life of a Professional Golfer
Out in the fresh air all day long, often enough in southern climes. Pots of prize-money filled to the brim. The world’s most famous golf courses, perfectly groomed for your appearance. The adoration of thousands of spectators. Requests for autographs, pats on the back, sponsors. Private jets, fast cars, luxury hotels.
But… there is also an unbelievable amount of travel stress. The job is a vicious circle of being extremely busy, being caught in traffic, spending time in foreign cities and hours of waiting at airports, and being home for only 30 or 40 days a year at most.
“Outside of tournaments, I’m on the golf course from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.,” says Martin Kaymer. “It’s a job like any other.” And Kaymer often spends his evenings at a health club. To be sure, most of us would trade places with a tour player in an instant. But we shouldn’t forget: There are many days on which a tour player would trade places with us without a moment’s hesitation.
