Birthplace: Zhongshan, China
Nationality: Chinese
Interests: golf, reading

He came into contact with golf at the age of 15. He was one of many Chinese pupils to pursue golf at school and started training at the Zhongshan Golf Club. While many others succumbed to the pressure, he trained hard every day, because he knew that golf might be his only chance to rise above rural poverty. His efforts paid off. Starting in 1996, he won the China Amateur Open Championship three consecutive times. He turned pro in 1999. An early highlight of Wenchong Liang’s career was his victory at the Singapore Masters in 2007. That same year he became the first Chinese golfer to win the Asian Tour’s Order of Merit and as a result took part in the PGA Championship. His most recent triumph was a course record at Whistling Straits, shooting an 8 under par 64 in the third round of the 2010 PGA Championship.
