Due to his striking appearance on the course, the 35-year-old Englishman is regarded as the bird of paradise among the world’s best golfers. Poulter is a showman who dresses conspicuously, and sometimes flamboyantly. He designs the golf attire he wears himself and markets it under his own name (ianpoulterdesign.com). Poulter caused a stir worldwide when he wore bell-bottom trousers with the Union Jack printed on them at the British Open, and he occasionally wears knickerbockers at major tournaments. But it would be wrong to judge the British golfer (who resides in Orlando, Florida) based purely on his outward appearance. For Ian Poulter is one of the world’s best golfers, which he impressively demonstrated in 2010, the most successful season in of 17-year-long professional career. After finishing second behind Martin Kaymer in Abu Dhabi, Poulter became the first Englishman to win a World Golf Championship series tournament. In the finale of the WGC World Match Play Championship, he defeated his countryman Paul Casey, receiving a million dollar check.
