Special modernization

Buildings from the 1950’s — 1970’s need o average 5 to 6 times more energy than modern buildings. A large part of this energy is simply wasted due to poorly insulated building envelopes in need of renovation. Ineffi cient sun shading and out of date building services also waste valuable resources: both ecological and economical. For the real estate industry as well as society in general, the renovation of existing buildings has become an important topic. Due to their inner-city locations, old buildings often have great potential. Refurbishment does not only improve the market value of each individual property but also has a positive impact on the overall community. In the near future, the successful upgrade of the energy performance and appearance of existing buildings is going to be the challenge for architects and investors — and will determine the townscape of the future.
