1911dialog | Photo series: Individuality as the guiding principle ©TorbenEskerod The architects Frédéric Druot and Lacaton & Vassal transformed a 1960s Parisian residential building by mounting conservatories and balconies on its façade, thereby significantly improving the quality of life of the residents, who were able to remain living there during the renovation. The residents are now benefiting from the larger living spaces and lower energy costs. The rental costs remain the same. The photographer Torben Eskerod and the journalist Karine Dana provide a highly personal insight into the living environment of two of the residents with the following sequence of pictures. Here the contrast between the stan- dardisation in the façade and floor plan on the one hand and the individual way in which the apartments are used on the other is clearly revealed. The DAM in Frankfurt am Main mounted an exhibition on the renovation of the “Tour Bois le Prêtre“ in the autumn of 2012.
