A view of the utility company’s headquarters shows the Network Services and Logistics Center with the photovoltaic façade in the background and the solar filling station for electric vehicles in the foreground. All of the PV modules were provided by Schüco. Lageplan, M 1:3500 Site plan, Scale 1:3500 The photovoltaic façade of the recently completed new building accommodating the Network Ser- vices and Logistics Center, created by agn Nieder- berghaus & Partner GmbH, is just one of many ef- forts undertaken by the Osnabrück Public Utility Company to make a green site out of the grounds of its headquarters between Luisenstrasse and Al- ter Poststrasse in Osnabrück. In September 2010, a Passive House office building was finished, provid- ing space for some 120 employees. A solar tree with an electric filling station followed in June of 2011. 4 surfaces, each with 16 Schüco MPE photovol- taic thin-film modules in the AL 01 series, fuel the public utility company’s vehicle fleet, consisting of 24 electric cars, 12 electric scooters, 7 pedelecs, and an electric bus with regular service. Since the end of 2011, the Network Services and Logistics Center, with its innovative photovoltaic façade and an additional installation on the roof, has addition- ally contributed to the goal of further advancing the city’s decentralized green energy production on the Osnabrück Public Utility Company’s own grounds. Now the company has a total of nine photovoltaic installations on its own property. The new building housing the Network Services and Logistics Center has administrative and storage space as well as different departments in a central building. The warehouse, including an interim facil- ity with storage space and space for technological equipment, provides nearly 2,000 m2 of covered space for all of the materials needed for the mains operation. The modern administrative block in front has 1,500 m2 of office space, which can accommo- date around 70 people. In addition, there are sani- tary and social rooms for the employees working at the construction sites. Due to a self-supporting structural concept, with as few supports as possible and a full cavity floor, the rooms can be used flexibly and redesigned easily. The two different building volumes are connected via a uniform façade. On the administrative block’s main façade, which is oriented to the south and consists of the Schüco mullion-transom façade
