One goal is to reduce CO2 emissions by switching from fossil fuels to renewable energies. This is an important task, particularly for non-OPEC coun- tries, as their energy consumption is forecast to increase by almost 70 % in the next two decades. The EU is currently the leader on the renewable energies market, but by 2030 the non-OPEC nations will be able to double their share of renewable energies. Moreover, in two decades 11 % of the world’s electricity needs will be covered by renewable energies, and a quarter of this amount will come from the EU.
